WELLINGTON PLANS
ARCHITECT ARRIVES
. .(By Telegraph—Press Association.) . AUCKLAND, July 23. Mr. A. G. Stephenson. principal of the Melbourne firm of Stephenson and Turner, consultant architects to the Wellington Hospital Board, arrived by the Awatea. v. •■'"',■•. Mr. Stephenson said he was going to Wellington, where he already has two representatives^ to discuss final plans for the new main Wellingtoa Hospital block, work on the excavations of which has already started. . It was expected, that tenders would be called in October, closing early ;n November. The estimated contract price was between £400,000 and £500,000. He also proposed to discuss matter* connected with the' new boiler-house and installation at Wellington and th« £435,000 Hutt Valley Hospital scheme, which was now awaiting approval of the Health Department. The firm has been appointed, subject' to the approval of th*e Health Department, joint architects with Mr. B. Far» rell, Auckland, for the Auckland Hospital rebuilding project, and Mr. Stephenson conferred with the chair* man of the Auckland Hospital Board,. Mr. Allan Moody. . At the invitation of the Council of the International Hospitals' Association, Mr. Stephenson will proceed from New Zealand to Toronto to read a paper on aspects of hospital architecture in September. He will leave Auckland by the Aorangi on August 8. Mr. Stephenson will subsequently make investigations into the latest hospital developments in the United States of America and Europe, and expects to return yin February.
