FAILED TO RETURN KIT

A N^val Reservist, Cyril James Phelp, a plasterer, was charged in the Magistrate's Court today witb failing to return portion of his kit after a period of training. He did not appear, but evidence was given that in June last he was ordered to bring his kit back. He returned part of the kit, the articles missing being valued at 17s lid. The commanding officer wrote to him on four occasions, three times by registered letter, demanding the return of the articles. No action was taken by the defendant, and it was only when he was sent a summons that he paid the amount.

The Magistrate (Mr. J. H.Luxford, S.M.), imposed a fine of 5s and costs
