TAIA HALL CROWDED

KILBIRNIE R.S.A. BALL

The third annual ball of the Kilbirnie auxiliary branch of the Returned SoK diers' Association, held at the Taia Halt last night, was one of the most enjoy-' able social functions held in the eastern suburbs this season. Under the capable direction of Mr. G. F. East, as M.C., enthusiasm never waned, and the 200 guests present were kept in. excellent social mood.

. The grand march, to the tune of "It's a Long Way to Tipperary," was led by Mr. D. Gunn, chairman. of the branch, and Mrs. H. Q. Bruce, president of the ladies' auxiliary. The patron of the branch, Mr. J. Stellin, and Mrs. Stellin, were present, and the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association was represented by Mr. J. Spence (secretary) and Mrs. Spence. Mrs. Coira, sen., foundation member of the ladies' auxiliary, was also present. Excellent music was provided by the orchestra and a cabaret supper was served. Supper extras were played -by Mrs. R. Smith. Dancing continued until midnight, terminating with "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem,

The branch secretary, Mr. H. M. Harris, was congratulated on. his very successful organisation of the Kilbirnia "Diggers'" annual event.
