CHRISTCHURCH HUNT

A PRELUDE TO NATIONALS

(Special to the "Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Christchurch Hunt Club's Annual Meeting is set down for decision on 'the Riccarton course tomorrow, and as jit serves as a valuable prelude to.the Grand National Meeting, opening on Tuesday week, the form displayed will be followed with more than ordinary interest. There are good acceptances for all events except the opening steeplechase, but defections on the day may oe more numerous than usual because of the snow-bound conditions that have prevailed over most of the South Island during the week. The condition of the track depends greatly on the weather tip till the commencement of the racing, and it is 'fortunately now much milder and more promising than it was yesterday. Betting will be on the win-and-place system. The following may be fancied:— Christchurch Hunt Cup.—Macalpein. Lawford Steeplechase.—El Caballo, Top Rank. Maiden Stakes.—Lord Midas Trumpeter Sound, Tint o' Tan. Homeby Steeplechase. — Padishah, Power Chief-Manawatu bracket. Camla Hack Handicap.—Astaire, Withdrawal, Lockit. _Longbeach Hurdles. — Recollection, King Rey, Aussie Ra. . Brabazon Handicap.—Spanish Lad, Lady Leigh, Night Dress. Kennels Hack Handicap.—Wagner, Hunting Chorus, Captain Bruce. The card is as follows:
