Mr. J. D. Johnston, a final-year theological student, has been accepted by the mission committee of the Presbyterian Church for service in China, and will probably leave for that field next year. . ' '

Professor A. H. Richardson, D.5.0., B.Sc, A.R.C.S., Fellow of University College, London, was an arrival from London by the Rangitata yesterday. He sailed again by the Ra'ngitiki for London again this morning. He is-Pro-fessor of Mathematics at the University of Wales, Swansea, .and ,is-on a health trip.
Mr. C. J. TalbQt, of Fairlie; was yesterday re-elected president of- the New Zealand v Counties' Association. Messrs. J. Ritchie, of Bannockburn, and W. Morrison, of v« Maxwell, were re-elected vice-presidents. v
