GOODWOOD CUP, a sweepstakes with £1500 added; second £300, third £150; about 2 miles and 5 furlongs. J. P. Hornung's b h Dubonnet, by Papyrus—Chincona, 4yrs, 8.0 .. 1 W. Barnett's b h Senor. by Trigo— Wish Maiden, syrs, 9.6 ...... 2 Princesse de Fancigny-Lucinge's b h Contrevent, by Deiri —Persian Princess, 4yrs, 9.2! 3

Five started. Won by a length, six lengths between second and third. Winner bred in France and trained by Basil Jarvis at Newmarket.

Dubonnet was a winner of his two last races as a two-year-old, the Leicester Midland Nursery Handicap, 7 furlongs, and the Newmarket Houghton Stakes, 1 mile, but he did not succeed in any race last year, and until recently he had not been out this season. His best performance last year was to finish second to Contrevent in the Cesarewitch. Senor, second ir the Goodwood Cup this year, was. also second in the race last year.—"Rangatira."
