ABSENCE FROM TOURNEY
UNDERCURRENT OF TURMOIL
NEW YORK, July 26.
The Seabright lawn tennis tournament committee is perturbed over C. G. Mako's absence. He did not appear for the first douoles yesterday and failed to send an explanation. The officials, instead of giving a victory oy default against him, are giving him an opportunity to play two matches today.
The manager of the American Davis Cup team, Mr. Walter Pale, was unable to say where Mako could be found. Newspapers predict an open rebellion, as Mako is responsible for an undercurrent of turmoil.
The majority of the Davis Cup candidates feel that Mako is receiving special and unjustified consideration from Mr. Pate and they express the opinion that if he does not appear at Seabright he will find himself in hostile sur roundings.
