COUNCIL'S MISTAKE

A protest against the action of the Petone Borough Council in cancelling the first A division Association football game which was to have been played between Petone and Diamond on the Petone Recreation Ground last Saturday, was made by the Petone Association Football Club in a letter received by last night's meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Football Association. "The ground ion Saturday was in good condition and we think the council made a bad mistake/ said the club. A member of the committee pointed out that Rugby was played on the Recreation Ground and the chairman (Mr. J. Meltzer) agreed that there was justification for the club's complaint. After the Borough Council had made its decision it telephoned the secretary and tried to get the games put on. again, but it was then too late. It was decided to write to the Borough Council on the subject. - ■■ '; ' ; '
