WELFARE OF MAORIS
DISTRICT NURSES
\n outline of the improvements which the present Government had made in Maori housing conditions and health was given by Mr. H. T. Ratana (Western Maori). He said the Maoris were realising the need for co-opera-tion with the doctors and nurses, and he would like to see more Maori girls taking up nursing as a profession. Maori district nurses would be particularly popular among Maori women and children.
Mr. Ratana paid a tribute to the Minister of Education and his Department for what had been done for the Maoris, and complimented the Government on its decision to broadcast proceedings in Parliament.
