LATE MR. C. E. DANIELL
Profound regret was expressed by the chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board (Mr. M. A. Elliot) at the board's meeting last night, at the death onJuly 12 of Mr.-G.-E.-Daniell, who. irom February. 1903. to. April. 1923, was a valued member of the board, occupying the chair from 1915 to 1919. The late Mr. Daniell; said the chairman, was a member of the board representing the . Wairarapa combined district from 1903, to 1923, and its chairman from 1915 to 1919. During his long term of office on the board, he made every endeavour to promote the growth of the port and province of Wellington, and his energy and enthusiasm were always in the direction ol establishing those harbour works and mechanical facilities required to meet the increas ing demands of trade and shipping, and the prompt and careful dispatch of the produce of the country. Mr • Daniell had a notable public record in many spheres, and his passing has brought to a close a life filled, with unselfish devotion and service to the community The board passed a motion of sympathy with the late Mr. Daniell's re- [ latives.
