WELLINGTON MEETING
THE SECOND DAY
ACCEPTORS AND PROSPECTS
With very heavy rain all last night and well into this morning, the tracks at Trentham have had a further good soaking, and though it might yet be fine again for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's Winter Meeting tomorrow the going is likely to be worse than it was yesterday. The course stood up to the first day's racing remarkably well.
There. are again good fields for tomorrow, and another day's exhilarating sport seems assured. It is the day on which the flat performers have their main chance, with the Parliamentary Handicap as the feature event. Many fresh horses are engaged, but form is likely to be a reliable index'to most of the results. The following horses promise to be well supported:— Handicap.—Bow Street, VKJkrt:, Awhiowhio. Trial Plate.—Selkirk, King Gustavo, Classform. Corunna Hurdles.—Jewelled Girdle. Ponty, Vantoon. Seatoun Handicap.—Shining Hours, Viracious, Te Ore. Matai Steeples.—Pandine, SlayerY Rapa Waiata. Parliamentary Handicap.—Quadroon, Sly Fox, Tidewaiter. Members' Handicap.—Fleet Street, Matoru, Saki. • Petone Handicap.—Colonel Bogey, Girl Pat, Erlick or Hutana.
