OHAU LAND

HUTT GROWERS' VISIT

The tract of land at Ohau over which the Government recently issued a proclamation with the intention of offering the land on lease to the market gardeners of the Hutt Valley whose land is being taken for housing purposes will tomorrow be visited by representatives of the Hutt Valley Producers' Association. The object of the visit is to ascertain if the land is suitable for market gardening, and in this regard attention will be given to the risk of frost and the availability of a water supply. A secondary object of this visit will be to give an assurance [to the owners of the Ohau land that the proclamation over their properties has not been instigated by the Hutt Valley growers. • The Ohau farmers are conferring today in Palmerston North with agricultural interests, with the object of resisting the compulsory acquisition of their land by the Government.
