OPTIMISM IN AUSTRALIA
"Wool prices are rising and Australian, growers are, very optimistic about the coming season," said Mr. G. E. Rennie, of Doyleston, Canterbury, who returned by the Wanganella today. after attending- the Sydney sales wh.ere he disposed of 50 Canterbury sheep—23 Border I_eicesters and 27 Southdowns —which he took across the Tasman recently; They are wanted in Australia for breeding, :*at lambs. Mr. Rennie said that prices at the sale were easier on this occasion. "Marked improvement is being made in Australian j^mb for export," said Mr. Rennie. "and there is no doubt thai Australia will become an increas ingly important competitor with New Zealand in, the export meat trade."
