In a message to the Government candidate in the North Cornwall byelection, the Prime Minister, Mr, Chamberlain, says:—- -♦♦ The British Government has always expressed its desire that differences between nations should bo settled by discussion and co-operation. Qo the other hand, we have made it no less clear that we are resolutely opposed to attempts to impose settlements by force, and that, if need be, we would meet such attempts by force." In a message to another Government supporter, who is engaged in the by-election in Caerphilly, Mr, Cham* berlain also refers to the international situation.
