SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONS IN THE ROYAL AIR FORCE. VACANCIES FOR TRAINING AS PILOTS. APPLICATIONS are invited for (a) short service commissions in the Royal Air Force and (b) commissions in the Pilot's Section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Reserve. GENERAL. All candidates must have attained the age of nib but not of 28 -years, be unmarried, able to pass the prescribed medical examination, and educated up to the standard of the School Certificate or the University Entrance Examination. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT APPLICANTS SHALL HAVE ATTAINED THE STANDARD OF EDUCATION REQUIRED. (a) SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONS. Candidates for appointment to short service commissions will undertake an initial training period of approximately eight months in New Zealand before proceeding overseas to complete a further five years' service in the Royal Air Force. A 'randidate on completing his service in the Royal Air Force will be required to serve 'or a period of five years on the Reserve. Return passage to New Zealand and a •iratuity of £400 is paid on completion of the active service period. (b) R.N.Z.A.F. RESERVE (PILOT'S SECTION). On appointment to the Pilot's section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Reserve a candidate is required to undergo an initial period of approximately eight mouths' continuous training. The full cost of training is borne by the State and adequate pay and allowances are provided -whilst undergoing training. NO PREVIOUS FLYING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
