WOMEN'S GAMES
The heavy rain that fell during Saturday afternoon spoiled the Wellington Women's Hockey Association matches, but though grounds were greasy some of the matches were played at a fast pace. There were no surprise results, T.0.G., C.0.G., Hutt United, and Hutt Valley winning their games. If Training College had maintained the form they produced in the, first spell of their match with T.O.G. at Karori Park, the chances are that they would have beaten the championship leaders. Rain fell heavily at the commencement of the game, and the ground was very greasy. However, in spite of this, play was fast and open. T.O.G. won by 3 goals to nil, Miss Mack shooting the goals. j Poneke defended well in their match with C.O.G. at Newtown Park, but their forward line was weak and lacked combination. The game was interesting, however, and was keenly contested. C.O.G. were playing without two of their best forwards, substitutes from the B grade taking their place, and if Poneke had possessed even one fast player in the forward line the result would have been different. C.O.G. won by 7 goals to nil, scorers being Mrs Lamason (2), Mrs. Wilson (3). and Miss Carson (2). Continuous rain and a muddy ground spoilt the match between Hutt Valley and T.O.G. II at Woburn, and Hutt won-by 2 goals to nil. The game was fairly even throughout, though Hutt had the better of the exchanges and main-, tamed a slight advantage. T.O.G. were pushing hard to equalise in the second spell but were thwarted by the Hutt backs, who played a flne game. Scorers were Misses Owens and Hoare.
Hutt United beat University by H goals to nil.
