Race meetings at Trentham. owe their success to their power of attracting competitors from all parts of the Dominion. This is /particularly the case at the Winter Meeting. Riccar-' ton stables can claim many creditable performances there "In July, and there will be 17 visitors this week from Canterbury's racing headquarters.

Among the Riccarton horses, who will be fancied in their engagements this year are:— Cottingham (Mariri Steeples), Wild Talk, Phenomenal, Rex Maitland, Gemara (Woburn Handicap), Ponty, Contract (Vittoria Hurdles), Counterblast, Grey Honour (Stewards' Handicap), Court Yard (Wellington Steeples), Silver Sight, Recollection (Trentham Hurdles), Haughty Winner, Trench Fight, Mun« gatoon, Waitaka, Skyrena : (Whyte Handicap), Wagner (Te Aro Handicap).
