CHILD FALLS IN CREEK

(By. Telegraph—Press Association.)

BLENHEIM, This Day.

- Alan John Smith, aged two years ■and four months, son of Mr. Francis Leslie Smith, garage proprietor, Springlands, was found drowned in a small, creek near his home on Saturday afternoon. The child was missing only a few minutes before a search began, but some time elapsed before ;the tragic discovery was made by his father. Apparently the child slipped down a bank into the water and became covered with weed, which accounted for the fact that it was not until he made a second visit to the spot that Mr. Smith located the body. It was then too late, for successful resuscitation, although artificial respiration was applied.
