COMPROMISE BILL ON DOLLAR ISSUE

The House of Representatives * adopted a compromise Bill restoring President Roosevelt's dollar devaluation authority and sent it to t^he Senate, where, however, it was faced with a possible filibuster. V
The President, in a statement to the Press, warned the country that he would riot tolerate delaying tactics which would prevent the measure coming to a vote before midnight, thus defeating it. = r The fiscal year has ended with a deficit of 3,580,000,000 dollars. The gross Natidhal Debt is approximately 40,378,000,000 dollars.
