Proof that the fine, calm conditions which prevailed in Wellington last night were purely local was afforded by the late arrival from Lyttelton this morning of the Maori, which entered the service this week when the Rangatira withdrew for overhaul and survey. The Maori met a strong northeasterly wind with a heavy swell and did not arrive at Wellington until after 8 a.m. Although there was fog over Wellington Harbour last night and the fog sirens were in use for some time, it was not experienced by the Maori.
