A POPULAR CLUB

(From "The Post's" Representative.) NELSON, June 29.

The Girls' Club formed last year by Mrf. J. P. S. Jamieson, which meets in the Mayfair tearooms, has proved by its popularity that there was a want in that direction. The management committee, under Miss Powrie, arranges the entertainment for the meetings, and many interesting hours are spent during the winter months. Last week a most interesting talk was given by Mrs. J. H. Jennings on a journey to the Far East, via Western Australia, and the talk was illustrated with excellent photographs and handcraft. Musical Entertainments. Music lovers have had two excellent concerts in the last ten days pro* vided by some of Nelson's best amateurs. The concert given by the Male Voice Choir last week, under the leadership of Mr. Frank Mitchell, was much appreciated. On Wednesday evening the musical circle of the Nelson Women's Club gave an enjoyable evening, all the items being from German composers. Captain Norris Hill and Mr. H. Kidson contributed to the programme. Morning Tea. A most enjoyable party was given one morning last week at the Women's Club by Mrs. M. Carmichael and Miss Mavis Carmichael. The day was cold, and the guests much appreciated the warmth of the club rooms and the hospitality. Among those present were Mrs. C. B. Hodgson, Mrs. F. J. Earle; Mrs. E. Leggatt, Miss Andrew, Mrs. William R. Rogers, Miss J. Tomlinson, Mrs T. Robinson, Mrs. L. Rowe, Mrs. W. Squires, Mrs. T. A. Johnston, Mrs. J. P. S. Jamieson, Mrs. H. V. Searle, Mrs. Earle Johnston, Mrs. J. Newman, Mrs. G. Dalgleish, Mrs. Campbell Smith, Mrs., W. D. S. Johnston, Mrs. Alastair Adam, Lady Easterfield, Miss B. Moore, and Miss I. Andrew. ■Personals. Mrs. H. S. Robison left at the beginning of the week for Auckland.
