SHANDON WIN
AGAINST MANOR PARK
At the Shandon links on Saturday afternoon the home side scored comfortable wins over the Manor Park representatives in Wan Cup and Ranish Cup matches. Scoring generally was only fair, the northerly wind making play dl AnUlesception was J. E. Nicolaus, Shandon's No. 1 Player, who beat V. W. Pase by 8 up and 7 to play after doing the first nine in o< — a fine effort. The match ended at the eleventh, after Page had taken three strokes _to traverse about forty yards of Airway. The Manor Paris player seemed completely out of touch with all his clubs, he was lacking in confidence, and he failed to win a single hole. A comparison of the players' respective scores gives some idea of the difference between them. NiC°laOulT 644345443-37. In: 44. Pasre i— Out: 745347565—46. In: 57. Eric Butler (Manor Park) and G. McGregor provided a considerably more interesting match in the No. 2 positions. Butler, as a matter of fact played poorly on the outward journey— htd he holed out at the sixth it could hard y have been tor less than B—and at the tenth heit Wwas 4 tale on the second nine, however. McGregor, who had been relying a great deal on his putter, went to pieces on the greens, and allowed his opponent to win back the four holes and be all square at the sixteenth. Butler paid the penalty of trying to chip out of a bunker with his No. 2 at the seventeenth, and went to the last hole 1 down. This was halved, after Butler's putt for a win had peeped in and stayed out. McGregor took the match 1 up. . . The golf was not good, but the game had some interest, which could not be said of the match between the leading players. Results:- watt cup> J. E. Nicolaus beat F. W. Page, 8 and 7; G.
