The West Coast (North Island) clay bird tournament concluded on Saturday, when shooting conditions were definitely harder owing to a high wind; The championship, a 21-bird match off 18 yards, attracted 17 entries. H. A. Quarterman (Wanganui) and H. K. Smith (Masterton) tied with 20 breaks, the former winning the shoot-off. In a £25 handicap shoot (18 birds) L. Maher (Putaruru) and E. C.
