CAPTAIN A. CARSON

GISBORNE, This Day,

The death has occurred of Captain Alexander Carson, harbourmaster at Gisborne for 24 years, at the age of 69.

Born in Dunedin Captain Carson served in the Union Steam Ship Corhpany's vessels before coming ashore at Gisborne. He was well known all along the New Zealand coast. He had been in ill health for some time, but his sudden collapse today was unexpected. Captain Carson is survived by his widow and four sons and one daughter. One son is an All Black and New Zealand representative cricketer. .
