MUSIC-LOVERS DISAPPOIMTED

Music-lovers in Wellington were disappointed on Saturday night, when the concert which was to have been given by the American tenor, Mr. Richard Crooks, had to be abandoned. Mr. Crooks was suffering from a cold and had medical advice that he should not sing.

Mrs. Crooks, who is travelling with her husband, said that the cold was not a heavy one, and it was confidently expected that, under treatment, Mr. Crooks would recover in 24 hours. Even if the vocal chords were only slightly congested, it was not advisable to place any strain upon them.

For the artist and for the management the occurrence means a substantial loss, as the receipts from the concert would have run into four figures.

Mr. Crooks's season has now been rearranged." He was to have sung in Palmerston North tomorrow night, but it has been found advisable to abandon that concert. Instead Mr. Crooks will sing in the Town Hall, Wellington, tomorrow evening, and booking made for Saturday night will be transferred to tomorrow night's plan. Patrons who find it inconvenient to attend on Tuesday may have their tickets changed to Thursday, when the final concert will be given.
