'RIGHT UP TO EXPECTATIONS'

Union reports from their members in New Zealand in regard to working conditions in the building of State houses in New Zealand are generally very satisfactory. A typical letter from a carpenter who is among those who were engaged in Sydney with a large batch some weeks ago set out that "Things over here are right up to expectations, in fact just what they are represented to be."
Union officials in Sydney, interviewed by a representative of the "Sydney Morning Herald" today, said that they were delighted to get such favourable news from workers who went from Australia. The exodus of Australian tradesmen to New Zealand, he emphasised, had somewhat relieved the unemployment problem.
