PUBLICATION IN RADIO PAPER
CONTROVERSY IN SYDNEY
SYDNEY, May 19,
An announcement made by the Post-master-General in the House of Representatives today that the Australian | Broadcasting Commission, which is | controlled by the Government, contemplates the publication of a weekly journal containing overseas news in addition to radio features, talks, and programmes, has caused a lively controversy! The' daily newspapers are particularly hostile, and take the view that the [ Broadcasting Commission, which is financed by listeners' fees, has no right to enter the field of private competition and should concentrate on giving better radio programmes and better service to the public.
