All the county cricket games which •were completed today were curtailed by rain. The match between Middlesex and Northamptonshire at Lord's became a one-day fixture, and in the match between Essex and Glamorgan the latter team secured an outright win after each side had declared the first innings closed with only nine runs on .the board. AtiGillingham, Lewis (Kent) took six wickets for 46 runs and .five for 57, and Martin (Worcestershire) "took six for 23 and eight for 84. Gimblett was in form .with the bat for Somerset against. Sussex, making 93 and 103 not out Results, are:— t - ' Middlesex v. Northamptonshire, at Lord's.—-Middlesex, 232 for five, declared (Compton 94, Edrich 84). Northamptonshire, 114 Middlesex . won by. 118 runs. The match wa.s .decided under one-day rules because there was no play on the first two days. Essex v. Glamorgan at Ilford.—Essex, 9 for one wicket, declared, and 109 (Thomas five for 64). Glamorgan, 9 for none, declared, and 1.13 for five. Glamorgan won by five wickets. Kent v. Worcestershira, at Gillingham. —Worcestershire,: 146 (Lewis six for 46) and 158 (Lewis five for 57). Kent> 72 (Martin.six for 23) and 149 (Martin' eight for 84). Worcestershire won by 83 runs. Somerset v. Sussex, at Taunton. — Somerset, 299 (Gimblett 93) and 183 for four, declared (Gimblett not out 103). Sussex, 211 (Andrews six for 75) and 71 for three. Somerset won on the first innings. Yorkshire v. Gloucestershire, at Bradford.—Yorkshire, 253 (Leyland 112; Goddard five for 76) and 162 for seven, ■declared (Scott six for 87). Gloucestershire,; 227 (Hammond 75) and 190 for four (Barnett 90). Gloucestershire won by six wickets. j Oxford University v. Lancashire, at Oxford.—Oxford, 117 (Pollard five for 39) and 227 for seven. Lancashire, 200. The match was' drawn.
