CONCERT AT HOME FOR AGED NEEDY

On Wednesday evening last a most enjoyable musical programme was provided by the Wellington Working Men's Club Orchestra at the Home for Aged Needy. Musical items were interspersed with vocal numbers, the following contributing:—Miss M. Purdue ('cello solo), Messrs. J. Gibson and J. A. Calvin (duet with banjo accompaniment), Mrs. A. Stout and Mr. W. McGee (elocutionary items), Messrs. K. Rigby, T. Donovan, and Mrs. N. McKechnie (vcteal solos), Miss M. Arrowsmith and Mr. S. Burder (violin duet). Mr. R. Hutchins acted as accompanist on the piano. The most satisfactory feature of the proceedings was the presence of Mr. Geo. Petherick, who has lately recovered from a serious illness. Mr. Petherick has been associated with the home for over fifty years and, through his wonderful spirit of friendliness, has endeared himself to all who have come in contact with him. \

Miss L. B. Gregg, in thanking the visitors for the entertainment, expressed appreciation of the programme provided, also stating how pleased they all were to have Mr. Petherick with them on this occasion. Mr. X.. Rigby, chairman of the entertainment committe, and Mr. F. Chapman, orchestral conductor, spoke on behalf of the club and the orchestra respectively.
