DOCTORS FROM ENGLAND

Eight, doctors chosen for service in the mental hospital division of the Health. Department are due to arrive here by the Rimutaka from Britain on January 12. They will help to overcome difficulties occasioned by the under-staffing in the mental hospital service which has been apparent for some time. This is not the first time that specialists in mental diseases have been recruited from Home. As many as possible are taken by the Department from the Otago Medical School, but the number of medical men who desire to specialise in this particular branch is very limited, and it has been found necessary to select the required men from England, which is the only place that provides for a diploma of psychological medicine.
