ACTRESS AS GOLFER.

When Gertrude Lawrence, the British actress, visited California recently, she received a key of the city .of San Francisco at the hands of the Mayor, Angelo Rossi. Later, Miss Lawrence accompanied the Mayoral party to Lincoln Park, where she inaugurated a golf tourney; removing her shoes and borrowing a club, the charming Britisher demonstrated that she is a good golfer as well as a good actress by driving a ball from the tee that reached within six feet of the cup. Miss Lawrence has attained an enviable position in the affections' of the American theatregoing public: her work in Noel Coward plays has been warmly praised.
