STRUCK GUIDE POST
MOTOR RACING FATALITY/

SYDNEY, December 30. While competing in the Australian Senior Tourist Trophy, motor-cycle race it Lobeth'al, South Australia, Gordon Jeorge Wade, 24, of Melbourne, xashed into a guide post at nearly 00 miles an hour and died almost imnediately from head injuries. The Australian Senior T.T. race was the nain and last event of the motor-cycle peed meeting, and Wade had com>leted one lap and three-quarters when he accident occurred. Wade, who had competed in two >ther events earlier in the day, was n tenth position. Going through Lobehal towards the pits to complete his second lap, he came to the left bend vhich is correctly banked for a fast wist in the, road. According to eyevitnesses, Wade came to the bend well, nit suddenly his machine, began to ilide towards the top of the.banking. 3efore he could brake sufficiently to :educe his terrific speed it struck the juide post, which was about three !eet high. The right side of the motof:ycle was badly damaged, and the back wheel was buckled; Wade's crash helnet was deeply dented by the force )f the blow. After it hit the post Wade's motor:ycle was thrown into the air and across the road. Wade himself was lurled into a ditch at the side of the road. N. I. Allan, a South Australian competitor who was following close belind Wade, ran into the riderless machine and was thrown to the road. He suffered concussion, head injuries, and lacerations.
