MR. CHAMBERLAIN IN SUFFOLK

(British Official Wireless.) (Received January 4, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, January 3. The Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain, when leaving Yorkshire yesterday on the conclusion of his visit to Lord Swinton, expi-essed'the opinion that 1939 will be a more tranquil year than 1938.

He denied rumours that during his stay he had visited Lord Halifax or Mr. Eden, who are also holidaying in Yorkshire..

Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain are now the guests of the Earl and Countess of Iveagh in Suffolk.
