NEW CURRENCY IN AUSTRIA

VIENNA, January 3,

All paper notes of the old Austrian schilling currency became worthless on January 1, and the silver coins are now worth only their intrinsic value, which is about a quarter of - their nominal value. Banks worked overtime exchanging them for the new currency, but many people retained sets of 10 two-schilling coins, which are already worth more than their .nominal 20 schillings, as they bear theportraits of celebrities, including thej murdered Chancellor, Br. Dollfuss.
