WELL-KNOWN SPORTSMAN

Kenneth Mack, one of the victims of the motor fatality on the Napier-Taupo road, was a popular figure in sport in Wellington before he was transferred to North Auckland, and the news of his death will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends. A prominent member of the Athletic Football Club, he played mainly as a half-back and deputised for E. W Tindill in the Athletic senior team when the All Blacks were on tour with the New Zealand cricket team in England. Kenneth Mack was also a keen cricketer, and was for years a member of the Karori (Club's first eleven. His interest in sport did not wane when he transferred, to North Auckland, and he continued to play cricket and football there, being last season an emergency for the North Auckland Rugby representatives As in sport, he was highly regarded, too. in w6rk. He was 24 years of age. and a son oi Mr and Mrs David Mack, for whom much sympathy will be felt The funeral took place in Wellington today

The three young men had come to Wellington for the holidays., They travelled from the north by train, and left on the return trip on Sunday, this time travelling in the car which. Mr Hogan had had sent up from Christchurch.
