The Brabin Shield cricket match between Wellington sand Canterbury concluded at the Basin Reserve yesterday, the result being a draw. Conditions were ideal and yesterday afternon's play particularly was productive of some sparkling cricket. Wellington applied the closure in their second innings when five wickets had fallen for 217. After "The Post" went to press yesterday, Rough and Parkin carried the score to 191 for the

third wicket, the latter losing his wicket with his score at 98. Rough scored a sound 32. The wickets were shared. Requiring 263 to win, Baxter and Wason opened Canterbury's second innings at 4.5 p.m. With the total at 48, Wason was stumped by Mooney. Smith joined Baxter, who was 38, and the rapid scoring continued. Both batsmen were after runs. Baxter reached his half-century in an hour. When 28 Smith was dropped at long-on by Manley off Parkin. The hundred came up in 70 minutes and Smith then hit 16 off an over from Parkin, whose four overs had cost 41 runs. At 115, Flanagin relieved Parkin, and Baxter, who had played a bright innings for 59 in 75 minutes, was stumped off the new bowler's third ball. 'Smith reached his 50 in 32 minutes. The 150 came up in 89 minutes, both men playing brilliant cricket. With Morley out, Callaway joined Smith, who was 54, and the runs continued to come. Callaway, Masefield, and Rumbold did not last" Long, and when stumps were drawn the score stood at 178 for six wickets, the match thus ending in a draw.
