FASHIONS AT ELLERSLIE
His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Galway, with Lady Galway and their three daughters, the Hons. Mary, Celia, and Isabel Monckton, attended the third my of the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Ellerslie on Monday. Her Excellency wore a frock of dusky pink self-patterned silk, and a cream picture hat, and her daughters were dressed in white silk frocks and white Leghorn hats.
The meeting, which was held in (perfect weather, featured lovely frocks. Unusual in New Zealand, several long trailing dresses with accompanying picture hats were worn by race-goers, contrasting with the frocks of the neat tailor-made variety which generally were favoured. Fancy was | ■■illowed full play in hats and accessories. Mrs. Eilwen Murphy, at a commcr•lal conference in Rotherham recently, said that if all young architects had odo a spell as domestic servants there I would be a wonderful improvement in I the planning of houses.
