SECRET TRIAL
OPENS IN BERLIN
ALLEGED HIGH TREASON
(Received January 4. 12.30 p.m.! BERLIN, January 3. The trial of Ernest Niekisch'and two others charged with high treason and plotting the assassination of Herr Hitler was opened today. Eighteen others will be tried later. The public were not admitted.
The trial of Niekisch, Wilhelm Drexler, and Karl Troeger is not at present concerned with the charges of attempted assassination of Herr,Hitler, which may not be heard if they are sentenced to death on the present charge- of anti-Nazi activity
v According to the indictment the accused drew lots to decide who would attempt to assassinate Herr Hitler. Stores of arms and, explosives were allegedly secreted in various parts of Germany.
