DEBENTURES FALL DUE

(Received January 4, noon.) EDMONTON, January 3. Alberta has defaulted in payment of 1,000,000 dollars worth of debentures, which fell due on January 1. Interest was offered at 2_ per cent, instead of 5 per cent., but was not accepted by the bondholders, who propose to request Ottawa to insist on payment.
