With nearly 11,000 scouts standing solemnly before him in a colourful array, the Governor-General, Lord Gowrie, today officially opened the seventh World Scout Jamboree.

The spectacle at Bradfield was wit-/ nessed by 50,000 people. Lord Gowrie;: inspected a guard of honour drawn ': from the various contingents in /the; camp.
