MR. GEORGE FOSTER
The death has occured at his residence in Heme Bay, Auckland, of Mr. George Foster, aged 84, one of the oldest pharmacists in the Dominion, and the holder of the ojdest certificate of the Pharmacy Board of New Zealand, states the "New Zealand Herald." Mr. Foster was educated at Cranleigh, aoil Oxford, from which university he graduated1 at the age of 18 years. He entered a pharmacy at Southampton and begart' medical studies before coming to New Zealand in 1873 as assistant to the late Dr. Grace, of Wellington. Owing to ill health, Mr. Foster spent some time in Queensland, but returned to New Zealand, and for a I number of years as assist!ant to Dr. Grace at Napier and Wellington, besides conducting pharmacies at Gisborne and Auckland in the eighties and nineties. At the beginning „of the century he established another pharmacy at Whangarei, which he conducted for about 25 years before settling in Auckland. Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter.
