Fishburn, of 233 The ?\ Esplanadei,-tp thank for conducting an,b£ unofficial,lifeboat corps in the vicinity.y For the second time within three weeks .: he rescued someone in difficulties off '. the foreshore. Yesterday afternoon Mr. J. Smyth, ;, bf Patanga Crecent, lost an oar while - fishing about 500. yards off the foreshore. The flat-bottomed boat ,iiv.. which he was fishing was driven _■-■„' rapidly south. It was four miles out - and a mile and a half west of Sdmee '■< Island when the Petone police telei-": phoned to the Somes 1 Island caretaker. .' The police then got in touch with Mr." Fishburn, who went- out in his launch , and topk the'boat in tow. When he reached it "the' boat ' was drifting.... rapidly, and. might, have been driven out of the harbour mouth.
