CAUGHT BOOKMAKING

AUCKLAND, This Day.
Interrupted by detectives in pencilling operations at Ellerslie on Wednesday, Marwood Dean (45), sawmiller, voluntarily appeared at the Police Court today on a charge of bookmaking and pleaded guilty.
The police said that the accused*! operations were carried on on the hill in front of the totalisator. He had £20 in his possession and admitted taking bets.
A fine of £25 was imposed, in default one month's imprisonment.
