Mr. George James Dethridge was educated at St. Stephen's School, Richmond, Victoria, and at Brunswick College, University of Melbourne, were he took his LL.M. He was called to the; Victorian Bar in 1893. In 1919 he was appointed a member of a Royal Commission to inquire into the conditions of wharf workers, in 1920-26 he was a Victorian County Court Judge, and in July, 1926, he became Chief Judge of the Commonwealth Court of Conciliation and Arbitration.
