ADMISSION TO UNION
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Why is it that non-unionists who have been on the waterfront for the past four or five years and who have always-been available at all times for employment/cannot get the preference over outsiders to become unionists? Time and time again, men have been taken into the union, but very few experienced non-unionists seem to find their way to the union. The outsiders have had very little experience, if any, at waterfront work, and are not conversant with the rules,of-the-union. Is it hot possible for some method to be adopted, by which non-unionists can stand a fair chance of becoming union members? —I am, etc., '
