NEW APPOINTMENTS
RETIREMENT OF COLONEL STANDISH
Several changes in the military command consequent upon the retirement of Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., J\0.0., A.D.C. to the King, R.N.Z.A., were announced yesterday by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones).
Colonel Standish will relinquish his appointment as officer commanding the Central Military District, Wellington, on Saturday, and the new appointments will take effect as from January 1, 1939. They are:—
Colonel E. Piittick, D.5.0., N.Z.S.C, is to relinquish the appointment of adjutant and quartermaster-general and Second Military Member of the Army Board. He has been appointed officer commanding the Central Military District, Wellington.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temporary Colonel) O. H. Mead. D.5.0., N.Z.S.C, is to relinquish the appointment of officer commanding the Northern Military District. He has been appointed adjutant and quartermaster-general and Second Military Member of the Army Board, and retains the temporary rank of colonel, while so employed.
Lieutenant-Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, N.Z.S.C., is to relinquish the appointment of General Staff Officer, Northern Military District, and is appointed officer commanding the Northern Military District, Auckland. He is granted the temporary rank of colonel while so employed.
Major L. Potter, N.Z.S.C, is to relinquish the appointment of commandant, Central Military District School of Instruction, Trentharn, and is appointed General ; Staff Officer, Northern Military District, Auckland. He is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant-colonel while so employed..
