EVANS BAY CARNIVAL,
The Wellington Tramways Band car, nival is attracting thousands of people daily to the reserve at Evans Bay, where there are.fifteen acres of amusement devices. Chief among the attractions that are presented by those wellknown showmen, Greenhalgh and Jackson, are Anna John Budd, a woman who is turning to man —Anna John, ' who was born in Canada, is 38 years jof age. Her exhibition is very interesting as she 'explains the reasons for I this strange change and a constant stream of visitors into her marquee attested to the, fact that the- public are always interested in something out of the ordinary. Another strange freak of Nature is Chang, the pin-head Chinaman, whose head is only as big as an average orange. Chang is assisted by a troupe of clever Chinese, amongst whom is Ah Foo.* His fishbowl trick, in which he produces live goldfish, swimming in a bowl of water, out of the air, had thousands guessing yesterday as to how it was done. Another Greenhalgh and Jackson attraction is Betty Broadbent, who is completely tattooed from neck to ankles. Betty, it is claimed, has four hundred and sixty-five designs on her body. The carnival will continue until January 4.
