STARS OF 1938.
Paramount Attractions,
An interesting innovation in entertainment is to be presented at the Paramount Theatre on Friday next by showing on the one programme all the pre-eminent stars of 1938. The list reads like a "Who's Who of HollyWood," with such famous and talented people as Gary Cooper, Charles Laughton, Alice Faye, George Raft, Cary Grant, Patsy Kelly, Frances Langford, Herman Bing, and the Three Radio Rogues:, .Gary Cooper "is seen in one of those strong; roles that he plays so well. Cooper is a young naval officer who becomes infatuated with the wife of Charles Laughton, who is seen in a part that calls for the fullest of his ability. This i^ Laughton's first modern screen role for some time and his work ,is brilliant. Cary Grant, playboy and wit, repeats his success of "The Awful Truth" and "Topper." Miss Faye sings several new songs. Patsy Kelly is at her happiest, daffiest best, and has some, of the best lines and situations of her career in this programme. Then there "are Frances Langford, the tar of Eddie Cantor's radio programmes, Herman Bing, and the Three Radio Rogues, who made that popular record, "America Calling." "Do you want a baby?" is the intriguing question asked by the management of, the Paramount Theatre, for it appears that a real live baby will be given away each night for one week. Each and every member of the audience has equal opportunities. The double-feature programme, "Every Night at Eight" and "The Devil in the Deep," is supported by a new Popeye cartoon and other selected shorts.
