BOWLING
CHRISTMAS fOURS
The first round, which consisted of one game only, in the Wellington Bowling Centre's Christmas fours tournament was played on the Wellington Bowling Club's green this morning. The green was in excellent order but the gusty wind made accurate drawing or cutting-out difficult and the game was not particularly interesting. The scoring was erratic but the winning rink had the advantage at all stages of- the game. The teams were Kenny, Katterfeldt, PollQck, Porteous (Wellington), and Grainger, Twohill, Hutton, , Watson (Thorndon). Porteous opened with a brace and Watson scored a single on the second end. A five on the-third end gave Porteous a good lead, but Watson took three on the next. Porteous again went ahead with a brace and a four, but Watson scored on the next three ends to bring the score to 13-8. ' The • Wellington rink then held the scoring over four ends and increased their lead to 21-8, but a five, a pair, and .a singlereduced it to 21-16. However, the Thorndon players could not catch vu yd,vd, and the game ended 25-18 in the Wellington rink's favour. The second round and the semi-final of the post-section play is taking place this afternoon and the final will be played tomorrow. '
