LONDON, December 7 At rthe London wool sales today 7157 ibales were ofiEered, including 2764 New Zealand, and 5621 were sold. A moderate selection was submitted. Witnidrawals were frequent all round. New Zealand greasy half bred, "Acland," sold at ao£d. \ in/I(Wl . , Throughout the series 104,200 bales were offered, including 39,500 New Zealand, and 85,590 were isold, including 3i;500 New Zealand. Best 'greasy -merino closed at par with the cdbsing rMte« of September series. Good average wools were _5 per cent (down. Short stapled, 1% £er ;cent. lower; bulky scoureds declined 2i per cent, and ordinaries were 5 per cent lower- Crossbreds, fine, sold at par to 5 per cent, down, and medium to coarse at par with September. .
LONDON, December 6. At the wool sales 6555 bales were offered, including 3516 from New Zealand, and 4911 were sold. There was a poor selection of chiefly New Zealand wools. The home trade demand was leas active owing .to; the, wools being more suitable for Continental purposes. Withdrawals were frequent among slipes and inferior merinos owing to the low bids. Rates were generally maintained. New Zealand greasy halfbred "Strathconan," 10jjdr to 12|d; scoured merino combing "Flock Hill," 18d; islipe crossbred "TB.and S," B|d to 14£ d. New Zealand scoured crossbred "FW/R," lOd to 103 d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following advice from its London house, dated December 7:—London wool sales closed firmly today. Competition for crossbred was active, and prices were firm. Home buyers were the principal operators, but competition on French account was fairly actlive. .As compared with last .sale's j closing rates, prices were as follows:— ijMjerino> iambs, ipar 'to id per 'lb higher; super and medium scoured, fd to Idtiperib lower; inferior, Id per lb lower; superior greasy, par to |d per lb lower; medium greasy, Jd to Id perJ lb lower; anferaor greasy, M per lb lower; crossbred, medium and coarse slipe, lambs, par to id per lb higher. The total qutntity offered was 104,219 bales; sold 35,500 bales; carried forward 51,000 including 16;500 from New Zealand. Compared with the opening rates, we quote:— Greasy merino, ibest, unchanged; greasy merino, average, id per lb lower; fine halfbreds, 50/56's, unchanged; extra fine crossbreds, 48/50's, £d per lb lowerpfme crossbreds, 46/48's, id; medium, 44/46's, id; coarse, 40/44's, Id; low, 36/40's, id, all lower; slipe wools generally unchanged.
